Dear TEACHER’S NAME,

Thank you for all the work you’ve done preparing for the coming year, and thank you in advance for teaching our child, CHILD’S NAME, this year. We’re looking forward to meeting you at Back to School Night, and we’re looking forward to partnering with you in our child’s education.

We are writing now to request that you please forward to us copies of your curriculum map for the 20XX-XX school year, as well as lesson any syllabus, book lists, and supplemental materials you will use associated with those lesson plans, preferably at least a few days ahead of when they will be employed in the classroom with our child, CHILD’S NAME. We’d like to keep up with what’s being taught so we can reinforce those lessons at home.

We are also aware that APS has been moving toward a more LGBTQ+-inclusive curriculum and we’re concerned about some instances of independent lessons regarding these topics that have taken place in APS classes. Can you please let us know what your perspective is on including the following subjects in lesson plans, discussions, materials, etc., in your classroom?

Homosexuality and/or Sexual Orientation

Family Composition

Gender Identity
